In Brussels for an Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative Board Meeting
In Brussels for the first time in five years to chair the board meeting of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative. Our visit has coincided with a heatwave, but that hasn’t stopped us using spare moments to walk around this pleasant city.
The Belgian Government and the European Commission hosted the EITI meeting; both are strong supporters of the EITI which promotes good governance and transparency in the extractive sectors.
The Board heard directly from its Ukrainian members about the war raging in their country and their commitment to continue their work with EITI and to the recovery of their country from the trauma and devastation it is currently suffering.
