I wear Menstrual Hygiene Day bracelet

From New Zealand to Uganda and from India to the UK, poor menstrual health and hygiene is a global problem. The cost of period products is not easily affordable for everyone that needs them. There’s a lack of good menstruation education in schools and toilets in public places are often inadequately equipped. Those who experience severe menstrual cramps often don't have access to the medical help they need. Periods are still stigmatised, which leads to shame and embarrassment.

By wearing the bracelet, countless MHH champions and me show that periods are nothing to hide, and that we can easily start conversations about menstruation and can help push back period stigma. The red ribbon for HIV/AIDS. The rainbow flag for LGBTQ+ rights. Symbols have the power to catalyse awareness and action. Created by MH Day, the Menstruation Bracelet is a global symbol for menstruation. The bracelet consists of 28 beads, five of the beads are red. While 28 beads represent the average length of the menstrual cycle, the five red beads represent the average length of a period.
