Last month Holly Walker of The Helen Clark Foundation published in The Spinoff on the issues of loneliness and anxiety and how these can be exacerbated in periods like the lockdowns which countries are living through.

Now Holly has published a follow up article looking at how governments and communities can address these issues: see the link below.

How our leaders can minimise the negative effects of loneliness after Covid-19

One finding which jumped out at me in the article: " In the Ministry of Social Development’s most recent Social Report, people earning less than $30,000 per year had double the rate of loneliness of those earning over $70,000." This tells us that while of course money isn't everything, having enough with which to live in dignity and security is very important.

TOMORROW - FRIDAY 8 MAY - AT 11 AM - Holly is doing an online briefing for members of The Helen Clark Foundation on her work. If you are a member, you will have received an email. If you aren't, you can join here: https://helenclark.foundation/become-a-member/

HEADS UP: Wednesday 13 at 11.30 am, I will be doing an online webinar for members on the global response to the Covid-19 crisis.

Many thanks to WSP in New Zealand for supporting Holly's important work, and to The Spinoff for publishing on it.
