It was an honour to be named last Thursday as the co-chair of the Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response (IPPR) to evaluate the world’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Panel is being established in response to the resolution of the World Health Assembly in May requesting the World Health Organisation's Director-General to establish an independent review. This assignment will be challenging; I look forward to working with co-chair Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former President of Liberia, whom I came to know when I was UNDP Administrator. President Sirleaf led her country with distinction during the Ebola outbreak which devastated Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea in 2014 and 2015. Take a look at the Guardian Report link.
